Dr. Salmaan Jawaid is a board-certified gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist specializing in advanced therapeutic endoscopy and minimally invasive endoscopic surgery for complex gastrointestinal disorders. He has extensive expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy (EUS-GJ), EDGE, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), Gastric POEM (G-POEM), Zenker’s POEM (Z-POEM), endoscopic full-thickness resection, and other innovative techniques that can help patients avoid more invasive surgical interventions when appropriate.

Prior to joining CLS, Dr. Jawaid served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine for six years. During his tenure, he served as Program Director of the Interventional Endoscopy Fellowship and Associate Program Director of the General Gastroenterology Fellowship. He also founded and directed the Endoscopic Surgical Training Program, helping establish advanced training opportunities for future endoscopists.

Dr. Jawaid has performed more than 500 advanced endoscopic surgical procedures, including ESD, POEM, and endoscopic full-thickness resection. He is recognized nationally and internationally for his commitment to clinical excellence, physician education, and innovation in endoscopic surgery. His academic contributions include more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and national presentations focused on interventional endoscopy and advanced therapeutic procedures.

In addition to his clinical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Jawaid has performed numerous live endoscopic case demonstrations throughout the United States and internationally. He has also proctored and trained more than 50 gastroenterologists in advanced endoscopic techniques, contributing to the broader dissemination of cutting-edge, minimally invasive therapies.
